We have been in our new home just over a week now. We still have unpacking to do, but we are slowly getting settled in.
We definitely have a longer drive now. On the way to work in the AM it really is not that much worse then before. I would still prefer to stay in bed until at least 8 every day, but we generally do not always get what we want...
It feels good to be up in Elk River. The house itself is amazing and we are really happy to be there. We have been spending money more than we would like, but we also expected it as we try to furnish the new house. We have bought the new living room set and hope to see it delivered in the next two weeks. We have decided on a dining room set and deck furniture - but not bought. We figure we can buy it later on sale and it gives us time to see if anything else jumps out at us.
Heather has been getting the unpacking done fairly quickly if you ask me. She seems to have a good grasp on where she wants everything and how it should look, so I try to help where I can and stay out of the way. Some of the unpacking is getting to a point where we need to buy some more furniture to get it done (bookcases in the basement for instance) or we need to make decisions based on how we think we will use spaces over the next couple years.
I have a couple of small projects to get done already. I need to get a gutter extension in place, modify some pull-out shelves to work, change an outside faucet, and seal some window joints. I also get to change the brake pads and rotors on the car and get the tv/cable situation such that we can easily use it on either of two (soon to be three) levels. The basement is also probably going to become a project of mine once Heather and I have a chance to work out the basic layout.
That's about all I have for now. It looks like we'll be having our open house Saturday June 14th, but I am not 100% sure, only about 95%. Watch this space for more.
