So, the storms that hit Colorado a few days back? They hit Minnesota yesterday, and we came out just fine. We hope for better weather on Saturday June 14th starting @ 1pm when we have our open house. If you aren't sure where we are send us a message and we'll get you directions. We got to experience our first strong spring storm in the new house yesterday afternoon. It actually wasn't that long of a storm, but it was a strong one. We were under a tornado warning for around 20 minutes and had a wall cloud pass over us during that time. It had minimal rotation, no funnels, and I do not think it had any hooks either. It did have hail - lots of hail. We have some plants in the back and one side yard that got beat up during the storm. We do not appear to have any damage to the house. We did find a baby bird on our porch the next morning though - an unfortunate victim of the storm in Elk River.
We are celebrating our new house by inviting people over. This is a rather informal affair. We are using Evite, a Facebook event, and physical invitations. We will also likely send out some email invitations as well. We want everyone to know they are welcome to show up anytime starting @1 until at least 5, but who know - maybe later too. Contact us on this site for your invitation if you do not get one by any other means, or just want to get one more on top of the other three you end up getting.
We have our new couch and love seat. Heather and I moved the old ones to the basement the day before they came in. The new corner cabinet is not in. Apparently the one that they had in the warehouse was damaged, and the last one they had in stock. So, we are awaiting a new one showing up in stock sometime in the beginning of June.
The patio furniture and a gas grill we can easily justify waiting for as they will likely hit a decent sale at the end of the summer, but the dinning room set is less of a seasonal item so we have been struggling with waiting. We would like to get it at a good deal, but it is hard to know what kind of sale it will have when in the future. Will it get a great fourth of July sale? What about later in the year - we could live without it for awhile. For now I think we plan to wait.
Heather did an excellent job of getting a lot of the unpacking done over the last few days and there are virtually no boxes left out. I still have a decent number of boxes to go through and organize, but they are all hidden in the back room.
That's all for now. I think I will just get this posted up and if I think of more to write I will do it later on in the week.
